Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-bred horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Friday's Observations features a Medaglia d'Oro at Dundalk.
17.45 Dundalk, Mdn, €18,000, 2yo, f, 7f (AWT)
DRAMATIC (Medaglia d'Oro) is one of two Ballydoyle newcomers in the line-up and apparently the second-string on jockey bookings, but as a $1.5-million Keeneland November Foal purchase and half-sister to the high-class Honor Code (A.P. Indy) and Noble Tune (Unbridled's Song) must be watched closely fitted with blinkers from the outset. The yard's other runner is the Wayne Lordan-ridden Head To Head (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), the fourth foal out of the G3 C.L. & M.F. Weld Park Stakes scorer and G1 1,000 Guineas fourth Coolmore (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) who is a full-sister to Classic winners Gleneagles (Ire), Marvellous (Ire) and Joan Of Arc (Ire).
16.10 Newmarket, Mdn, £20,000, 2yo, c/g, 7fT
SECRET THEORY (IRE) (Dubawi {Ire}) is a significant runner for Godolphin, being the sixth foal out of their increasingly-influential broodmare Mistrusting (Ire) (Shamardal) who has already provided two top-level winners in North America by Dark Angel in Mysterious Night (Ire) and Althiqa (GB) as well as the G2 Blue Point Sprint and GIII Quick Call Stakes winner and G1 Al Quoz Sprint and GI Jaipur Stakes-placed Star Of Mystery (GB) (Kodiac {GB}). Charlie Appleby introduces the homebred alongside the similarly-unraced Music Of Time (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), a relative of Giant's Causeway's Frost Giant with William Buick on Secret Theory.
